Product Description
The SS25 is a 25 HP oil-injected rotary screw compressor designed for continuous operation, with a 100 percent duty cycle for plants that run air all day. Output is 102 CFM @ 150 PSI / 108 CFM @ 125 PSI, and it operates on 208-230V/460V three-phase power at 60 Hz; expected current draw is 63A @ 230V; 32A @ 480V. The airend is German-made, with omega-profile rotors, and the oil system uses a spin-on oil separator that holds oil carryover to about 3 ppm. An open-frame layout gives easy access for service, and a bolt-on air/oil cooler can be swapped without disturbing the rest of the package. A single-solenoid control scheme keeps the controls simple. Power comes from a totally enclosed, fan-cooled (TEFC) motor. Air is stored in an ASME-certified, powder-coated 120 gallon steel receiver in a horizontal layout, with an automatic drain and a discharge ball valve. Vibration isolation pads are supplied, and a heavy-duty air filter protects the airend. Sound level is about 80 dBA, which is quieter than most piston machines of comparable size. Dimensions are 72 x 36 x 54 in and the unit weighs 1,185 lbs. It is assembled in Texas, USA, and covered by a 1 year warranty. Rotary screw compressors are usually chosen over piston designs when air demand is steady, because they do not need rest periods and they deliver a smooth, pulsation-free flow. Installation is straightforward: set the package on a level slab with the isolation pads, connect the outlet to your air piping, and have an electrician connect power to the starter using the current values listed here. Regular upkeep consists of replacing the oil, the oil separator and the air filter at the intervals in the manual, and checking the cooler fins for dust build-up. Keep at least a couple of feet of clearance around the cooler so that air can flow freely, and avoid placing the compressor where it will draw in fumes or dust from other processes. Because the receiver is built in, the unit needs no separate wet tank in many small and mid-size installations, which saves floor space and piping. Downstream dryers and filters are recommended for paint, powder-coating, packaging and instrumentation applications that need clean, dry air. The oil-injected design keeps discharge temperatures low, and the automatic drain removes condensate so that water does not build up in the tank.
